Marigolds

Auburn Circle Summer 2020

The Auburn Circle released a special edition that highlights the work of Black students’ at Auburn. We wanted to do something to bring their voices to the forefront at a time that they were often overlooked.

Marigolds symbolize passion, power, and courage. Using them as an inspiration for the cover allowed us to embody all of the passion inside the magazine through a striking illustration on the cover.

With serious topics on every page, this magazine needed to feel as powerful as the content within it.

Black and white with pops of the Marigold yellow created a serious, yet eye-catching aesthetic.

Overall, this project was one of the most rewarding things I’ve done as a designer.

It inspired me to see the impact that my work could have on a community. Knowing that I helped people feel seen and heard is something that sparked a new level of interest in publication and print design. Having a final product that people can hold in their hands and share with friends is a uniquely rewarding experience.
